The things that we do over the internet is not a secret anymore. Our current location can be traced and our internet habits can be monitored. The right to privacy is NOT respected online. The email that we send contain headers that can be analyzed, revealing the source and the recipient. The sites that we visit records our activities and this data can be used to trace us or can be used against us. The information transmitted over the net can be disclosed anytime by the power of a court order if so required.
Internet data packets have two parts: a data payload and a header used for routing. The data payload is whatever is being sent, an email message, a web page, or an audio or video file. Even if the data is encrypted, traffic analysis still reveals a lot of information because it focuses on the header, which discloses source, destination, size, timing, and many other information that you may not want others know about.
